InfoComm Standards Program Grateful to Polycom
Polycom recently hosted the InfoComm Videoconferencing Lighting Standard Task Group face-to-face laboratory work session at its Andover, MA, facility. Organized by Jim Smith, CTS, CVE, the group was able to evaluate key parameters of a variety of videoconferencing cameras using state-of-the art image analysis equipment. InfoComm is grateful to Polycom for extending this valuable resource and one of its development engineers for two days. The task group is challenged with identifying lighting metrics for a variety of conferencing cameras, across CCD and CMOS technologies and from SDTV to HDTV resolutions and aspect ratios. Repeatable and objective parameters are fundamental to the InfoComm standards, and this facility offered the accuracy and integrity that is required. The forthcoming Videoconferencing Lighting Performance Standard is a joint effort between InfoComm and IES, the Illuminating Engineering Society.
