The designer's core knowledge track consists of four courses - an online course, followed by three classroom courses, each of which is three days long. Historically, many people who complete the four course track elect to take the CTS-D (Certfied Technology Specialist-Design) examination. The test does not require attendance in any educational offering, however, and can be taken at any time. See Schedule of Upcoming Design Classes
DES201 Design Online
The first of four core knowledge courses in the InfoComm Academy Designer Track contains more than 300 lessons introducing the core concepts of audiovisual systems design.

The second of four core knowledge courses in the InfoComm Academy® Designer Track, this three-day classroom course explores the principles of design for proper visual display systems, audio systems, and control systems with hands-on opportunities to apply what is learned.

DES311 Facilities Design
This course focuses on the environment, ergonomics, and infrastructure of the presentation space. DES212 Principles of Applied AV Design teaches you how to pick the right components. DES311 Facilities Design teaches you how to put the components in the space correctly, and DES312 Systems Design teaches you how to make sure everything works together.
